So, what is proteína hidrolizada de trigo?
Proteína hidrolizada de trigo, or hydrolyzed wheat protein, is a highly processed ingredient derived from wheat. It is created by breaking down the wheat protein through a process of hydrolysis, resulting in smaller peptide chains that are easier for the body to absorb. Hydrolyzed wheat protein is often used as a flavor enhancer and as a source of amino acids in processed foods, including baked goods, snacks, and vegan meat substitutes. It can also be found in personal care products, such as shampoos and conditioners, due to its film-forming and moisturizing properties. However, it may cause allergic reactions in individuals with wheat sensitivities.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
