So, what is reglisse?
Réglisse, also known as licorice, is a root that has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and confectionery. The plant is native to the Mediterranean and Asia, and its distinctive flavor comes from the presence of glycyrrhizin, a natural sweetener that is 50 times sweeter than sugar. In addition to its use as a flavoring agent in candies, teas, and syrups, réglisse is also valued for its medicinal properties. It is believed to have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial effects, and has been used to treat everything from sore throats to digestive issues. However, due to its potent active compounds, it should be used in moderation, especially by pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
