So, what is siarczan miedzi?
Siarczan miedzi, also known as copper sulfate, is a common food ingredient used as a preservative and for its blue coloration. It is made by combining copper oxide with sulfuric acid and then dehydrating the resulting compound. While it has been deemed safe for consumption in small amounts, excessive consumption can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In addition to its use in food, siarczan miedzi is also used in agriculture as a pesticide and fertilizer. Its distinctive blue color makes it a popular choice for dyeing fabrics and creating pigments for artwork.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
