So, what is son de soja?
"Son de soja" is a Spanish term that translates to "soybean husks" in English. It refers to the outer layer of the soybean that is removed during the process of making soybean oil or soy milk. These husks are high in fiber and protein, making them a nutritious addition to many recipes. They have a slightly nutty flavor and a crunchy texture, and can be used to add bulk and texture to baked goods, cereals, and smoothies. "Son de soja" is also a popular ingredient in vegetarian and vegan diets as a meat substitute, as it can be seasoned and cooked to resemble ground beef or pork.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
