So, what is sorbic?
Sorbic acid is a naturally-occurring organic compound commonly used as a food preservative. It's derived from the berries of the rowan tree and has been used for centuries to preserve food. Sorbic acid is effective at preventing the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold, making it an ideal preservative for foods such as cheese, wine, and baked goods. It's also commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products. Sorbic acid is generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, and its use is widespread due to its effectiveness, low cost, and minimal impact on taste and texture.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
