So, what is tapioca dextrin?
Tapioca dextrin is a plant-based ingredient derived from tapioca starch by hydrolyzing it with enzymes or acids. It is commonly used in the food industry as a thickening agent, stabilizer, and texturizer due to its unique properties of being soluble in both cold and hot water. Tapioca dextrin is also utilized in creating crispy coatings for snacks and baked goods, as well as in the production of dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals. This versatile ingredient has a neutral flavor and is gluten-free, making it an excellent option for those with dietary restrictions.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
