So, what is towel gourd?
Towel gourd, also known as dishcloth gourd or sponge gourd, is a versatile vegetable commonly used in Asian cuisine. With its elongated shape and light green skin, the towel gourd has a mild flavor and is often added to soups and stir-fries. The flesh of the gourd is soft and spongy when cooked, making it an excellent ingredient for absorbing flavors. Aside from its culinary uses, towel gourd is also used for medicinal purposes in traditional medicine, believed to have properties that aid digestion and improve circulation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
