So, what is velvetleaf?
Velvetleaf, also known as Abutilon theophrasti, is a plant species that is commonly found in North America, Europe, and Asia. The leaves of this plant are covered in soft, velvety hairs, which give the plant its distinctive texture and name. In traditional medicine, velvetleaf has been used to treat a variety of ailments, such as coughs, sore throats, and fevers. In the culinary world, velvetleaf is often used as a leafy vegetable, and can be cooked like spinach or added raw to salads. This versatile ingredient is also rich in vitamins and minerals, making it a healthy addition to any meal.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
