So, what is viande de cheval?
Viande de cheval, also known as horse meat, is a lean and tender meat that has been consumed by humans for centuries. This protein-rich ingredient has a slightly sweet flavor and is commonly used in traditional dishes such as Italian lasagna, French steak tartare, and Japanese basashi. While it may be considered controversial in some cultures, it's an excellent source of iron, zinc, and vitamin B12. In addition to being tasty and nutritious, it's also a more sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to beef, as horses produce less greenhouse gas emissions and require less land and water to raise.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
