So, what is wool fat?
Wool fat, also known as lanolin, is a waxy substance derived from the sebaceous glands of sheep. It is a natural emollient that has been used for centuries in various skincare products due to its moisturizing properties. Wool fat is composed of esters, alcohols, and fatty acids, and has a similar structure to human sebum, making it an excellent ingredient for dry and sensitive skin. In addition to its hydrating benefits, wool fat is also a natural waterproofing agent, making it useful in the textile industry. While wool fat is primarily sourced from sheep, it can also be found in other animals such as alpacas and llamas.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
