So, what is yellow prussiàte of soda?
Yellow prussiate of soda, also known as sodium hexacyanoferrate (II) dihydrate, is a food-grade salt commonly used as an anti-caking agent in various food products. It appears as small, pale-yellow crystals and has a slightly salty taste. It is soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol, making it particularly useful in products that require moisture control. Yellow prussiate of soda is considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies such as the US Food and Drug Administration and is commonly found in baked goods, cheeses, and other processed foods. Though it has been linked to allergic reactions in some individuals, it is generally regarded as a harmless food additive.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
