So, what is zout?
Zout is a Dutch word that translates to salt in English. It is a common food ingredient that adds flavor and enhances the taste of many dishes. Salt is essential for human health as it helps regulate fluid balance, muscle and nerve function, and blood pressure. Zout is obtained by evaporating seawater or mining it from underground salt deposits. It is available in different forms, including table salt, sea salt, and kosher salt. Zout is a versatile ingredient that can be used in cooking, baking, and preserving food. However, it is important to use it in moderation as excessive intake can lead to health problems.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
