So, what is aluminum isostearates/laurates/stearates?
Aluminum isostearates, laurates, and stearates are food ingredients that are derived from aluminum and fatty acids. They are commonly used as emulsifiers, stabilizers, and thickeners in processed foods such as baked goods, sauces, and desserts. These compounds help to improve the texture and appearance of food products, as well as prolong their shelf life. Although aluminum isostearates/laurates/stearates are generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, there is some concern about their potential health effects. Some studies have suggested a link between aluminum exposure and certain health problems, such as Alzheimer's disease, although the evidence is not conclusive.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
