So, what is amandes améres?
Amandes amères, or bitter almonds, are a type of almond that contains a small amount of cyanide. Despite their name, they have a distinct flavor that is more complex and intense than sweet almonds. These almonds are commonly used in baking to add a unique nutty flavor to desserts such as macarons, cakes, and cookies. They are also used in the production of marzipan, liqueurs, and other confections. However, due to the presence of cyanide, it is important to use them in moderation and avoid consuming them raw.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
