So, what is ammonium bicarbonates?
Ammonium bicarbonates are a food-grade chemical compound that is commonly used as a leavening agent in baking. It is a white, crystalline powder that is highly soluble in water and has a slightly salty taste. Unlike traditional baking soda, ammonium bicarbonates release carbon dioxide at a lower temperature and over a longer period of time, making it an ideal leavening agent for products that require extended baking times, such as cookies and crackers. Additionally, ammonium bicarbonates are often used in gluten-free baking to help improve the texture and rise of baked goods. As a food ingredient, ammonium bicarbonates are considered safe for consumption in small quantities.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
