So, what is chick-peas?
Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a versatile legume widely used in many cuisines around the world. These small, beige-colored beans have a nutty, earthy flavor and a slightly grainy texture when cooked. They are a good source of protein, fiber, iron, and other essential nutrients, making them a popular ingredient in vegetarian and vegan diets. Chickpeas can be boiled, roasted, or ground into flour, and are often used in salads, stews, hummus, and falafel. They are also a key ingredient in the Indian dish chana masala and the Middle Eastern dish ful medames.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
