So, what is clous de girofles?
Cloves, or "clous de girofles" in French, are a highly aromatic spice that adds a warm, sweet, and slightly bitter flavor to dishes. They come from the dried flower buds of the clove tree, which is native to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia. Cloves are used in both sweet and savory dishes, from baked goods to stews and curries. They are also a common ingredient in spice blends like garam masala and pumpkin spice. Besides their flavor, cloves are also known for their potential health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
