So, what is des poireaux?
Des poireaux is a versatile vegetable that is a staple in French cuisine. Also known as leeks, they have a mild, sweet flavor with a subtle hint of onion. They are long and cylindrical with white, tender stalks and dark green leaves that are often discarded. Poireaux are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, and iron. They can be sautéed, roasted, grilled, or braised and used in a wide range of dishes, from soups and stews to quiches and gratins. Their delicate flavor adds depth and complexity to any dish.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
