So, what is hydroxyde de sodium?
Hydroxyde de sodium, also known as sodium hydroxide, is a highly alkaline and caustic compound commonly used in the food industry as a pH regulator and food additive. It is a white, odorless solid that can dissolve in water, producing an exothermic reaction. In food production, sodium hydroxide is used for various purposes, such as peeling fruits and vegetables, processing cocoa and chocolate, and curing olives. However, it should be handled with care due to its highly corrosive nature, and proper safety measures should be taken to avoid skin and eye contact.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
