So, what is ail en?
"Ail en" is a unique and flavorful ingredient commonly used in French cuisine. Known in English as "garlic confit," it consists of whole garlic cloves slow-cooked in olive oil until they become soft, tender, and infused with a rich, buttery flavor. Ail en adds a subtle, sweet garlic taste to dishes and can be used in a variety of recipes, such as mashed potatoes, pasta sauces, or spread on crusty bread. Its versatility and ability to enhance other flavors make it a favorite among chefs and home cooks alike.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
