So, what is esters du propylène glycol d'acides gras?
Esters du propylène glycol d'acides gras, or PG esters, are food additives commonly used as emulsifiers, thickeners, and stabilizers. They are created by combining propylene glycol with fatty acids derived from plants or animals. PG esters help to maintain the texture and consistency of processed foods, such as salad dressings, baked goods, and dairy products. They also help to extend the shelf life of these products by preventing separation and spoilage. Although PG esters are generally considered safe for consumption, they may cause mild allergic reactions in some people.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
