So, what is graisse de palmes?
Graisse de palmes, also known as palm fat, is a type of vegetable fat derived from the flesh of the fruit of the oil palm tree. This versatile ingredient has a smooth texture, mild flavor, and is a common ingredient in many processed foods, such as baked goods, snacks, and margarine. It is also used in some cosmetics and soaps. While palm fat is high in saturated fats, it is also a good source of antioxidants and Vitamin E. However, its environmental impact has raised concerns due to deforestation and habitat destruction caused by palm oil production.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
