So, what is lipoids?

Lipoids are a diverse group of biomolecules that are essential for maintaining healthy bodily functions. They are hydrophobic in nature and include lipids, phospholipids, and glycolipids, which are commonly found in cell membranes. Lipoids play crucial roles in many physiological processes, such as energy storage, insulation, and signaling pathways. They are also used in food production as emulsifiers, thickeners, and stabilizers. In addition, lipoids are vital for the absorption and transportation of fat-soluble vitamins, such as A, D, E, and K, in the body. However, an excessive intake of lipoids can lead to health problems such as obesity, heart disease, and high cholesterol levels.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like lipoids?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
