So, what is serum proteins?

Serum proteins refer to a group of proteins found in blood serum, which is the clear, yellowish fluid that remains after blood clots. These proteins play important roles in maintaining the body's homeostasis, including regulating fluid balance, transporting hormones and nutrients, and defending against infections. Serum proteins can be separated and analyzed using a technique called electrophoresis, which can help diagnose certain medical conditions. Some examples of serum proteins include albumin, which helps maintain blood pressure and transport substances such as drugs and hormones, and immunoglobulins, which are antibodies that help fight off infections.
