So, what is stabilisants.' carraghénanes?
Stabilisants, or stabilizers, are a group of food additives that help maintain the consistency, texture, and appearance of processed foods. Carrageenans, in particular, are natural stabilizers derived from red seaweed. They are commonly used in dairy products like ice cream and chocolate milk, as well as in processed meats and pet foods. Carrageenans are known for their ability to enhance the texture and mouthfeel of foods, while also helping to prevent separation or settling of ingredients. Despite some controversy surrounding their safety, carrageenans are generally considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
