So, what is sviestas?
Sviestas is a dairy product commonly used in Lithuanian cuisine, similar to clarified butter. It is made by slowly simmering unsalted butter until the milk solids separate from the liquid fat, creating a clear golden liquid with a rich, nutty flavor. Sviestas can be used for cooking, baking or as a spread on bread. Due to its high smoke point and low moisture content, it is ideal for frying and sautéing. Sviestas is also known for its long shelf life and is a staple ingredient in traditional Lithuanian dishes such as cepelinai and kugelis.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
