So, what is aceite de palma hidrogenado?
Aceite de palma hidrogenado, also known as hydrogenated palm oil, is a processed oil derived from the palm fruit. This oil undergoes a hydrogenation process which turns it from a liquid into a semi-solid form. This makes it ideal for use in food production as it helps to extend the shelf life of products while also improving their texture and stability. However, this process also increases the amount of saturated fat in the oil, which has been linked to increased risk of heart disease. As such, many consumers are looking for alternatives to products containing aceite de palma hidrogenado.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
