So, what is acetylated tallow?
Acetylated tallow is a food ingredient that is made by chemically modifying animal fat, usually from cattle or sheep. It is often used as an emulsifier, which helps to mix oil and water-based ingredients in food products, such as baked goods and processed meats. Acetylated tallow is a white or pale yellow waxy substance that is solid at room temperature and has a slightly fatty odor. It is considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies, although some consumers may prefer to avoid animal-derived ingredients for ethical or dietary reasons.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
