So, what is acid benzoic?
Acid benzoic, also known as benzoic acid, is a white crystalline powder commonly used as a food preservative to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. It is naturally found in many fruits, such as cranberries, prunes, and plums. Acid benzoic has a slightly sweet and astringent taste and is commonly used in acidic foods, such as pickles, sauces, and carbonated drinks. It is also used in cosmetics and medicines as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent. While generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies, acid benzoic may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
