So, what is fumaric acid?
Fumaric acid is a naturally occurring organic acid commonly found in plants and fruits. It is a white crystalline powder that is water-soluble and has a sour, fruity taste. Fumaric acid is often used as a food additive in the food industry, particularly in the production of beverages and baked goods. It is used to enhance flavor, act as a preservative, and adjust pH levels. Fumaric acid is also used in the production of plastics, resins, and pharmaceuticals. Despite its name, fumaric acid is not derived from fumes, but rather from the Latin word "fumus," which means smoke.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
