So, what is ácid sorbic?
Ácid sorbic is a synthetic preservative commonly used in food products to prevent the growth of mold, yeast, and bacteria. It is an odorless, white crystalline powder that is highly soluble in water and ethanol. Ácid sorbic works by inhibiting the enzymes necessary for microbial growth and reproduction, thus extending the shelf life of various foods such as baked goods, cheese, and wine. This ingredient is generally considered safe for consumption in small amounts, but excessive intake may cause allergic reactions or other adverse effects. Overall, ácid sorbic plays an important role in maintaining the quality and safety of many food products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
