So, what is alga kombu?
Kombu is a type of seaweed that is commonly used in Japanese cuisine. Also known as alga kombu, it is a versatile and nutritious ingredient that adds a unique umami flavor to a wide range of dishes. Kombu is rich in iodine, a vital mineral that supports healthy thyroid function, and is also a good source of other nutrients, such as calcium and iron. When cooked, kombu can be used to make dashi, a flavorful and aromatic broth that is the foundation of many Japanese soups, stews, and sauces. Kombu can also be used as a seasoning for vegetables, rice dishes, and salads, or enjoyed on its own as a snack.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
