So, what is aluminium sulphate?
Aluminium sulphate, also known as aluminum sulfate, is a white crystalline compound with a molecular formula of Al2(SO4)3. It is commonly used in water treatment, paper manufacturing, and as a mordant in dyeing and printing textiles. Aluminium sulphate acts as a coagulating agent, helping to remove impurities from water by clumping them together and settling them out. In the food industry, it is sometimes used as a firming agent in pickles and processed cheese, and as an acidity regulator in baking powders. However, it is important to note that excessive consumption of aluminium sulphate can be harmful to human health, so it is carefully regulated by food safety authorities.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
