So, what is annatto color?
Annatto color is a natural food coloring derived from the seeds of the achiote tree. It has a bright, reddish-orange hue and is often used to enhance the appearance of various foods, such as cheese, butter, and sauces. The pigment in annatto color, called bixin, is soluble in oil and is therefore commonly added to oil-based products. In addition to its aesthetic benefits, annatto color has also been used in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties. It is a safe and widely used ingredient that can be found in many food products on grocery store shelves.
