So, what is batyl alcohol?

Batyl alcohol, also known as 1-docosanol, is a saturated fatty alcohol with 22 carbon atoms. It is a white, waxy solid that is insoluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents. Batyl alcohol is found in small amounts in some plants and animal fats, but it can also be synthesized from palm oil or coconut oil. This ingredient has various applications in the cosmetics industry as an emollient and thickener, and it is also used as a food additive to improve texture and stability. Additionally, batyl alcohol has been studied for its potential antiviral properties and has been shown to inhibit the replication of herpes simplex virus.
