So, what is benzoate de potassium?
Potassium benzoate is a food preservative commonly used to inhibit the growth of bacteria, yeast, and fungi in various types of food products. It is a salt derived from benzoic acid and potassium hydroxide and is often used in acidic foods, such as carbonated drinks, fruit juices, pickles, and sauces. Potassium benzoate is a white, odorless powder with a slightly bitter taste and is considered safe for human consumption in small amounts. However, excessive intake may cause adverse effects, such as allergic reactions, respiratory problems, and skin irritation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
