So, what is bisulfito sódico?

Bisulfito sódico is a chemical compound commonly used as a food additive due to its ability to act as a preservative, antioxidant, and bleaching agent. Also known as sodium bisulfite, this white crystalline powder is water-soluble and has a slightly sulfurous odor. It works by releasing sulfur dioxide, which prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi, and helps maintain the color and flavor of certain foods and beverages. Bisulfito sódico is commonly found in processed meats, seafood, and wines, but should be used in moderation as high levels can cause adverse health effects.
