So, what is boniato?

Boniato, also known as the Cuban sweet potato or batata, is a starchy root vegetable with a delicate, slightly sweet flavor and a creamy texture. This tuberous vegetable is popular in Latin American and Caribbean cuisine, where it is used in a variety of dishes such as soups, stews, and desserts. Boniato is an excellent source of dietary fiber, vitamins B6 and C, and potassium. Its skin can range from white to purple, while its flesh is usually pale yellow or beige. When cooked, boniato has a smooth and tender consistency, making it a versatile ingredient in both sweet and savory recipes.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like boniato?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
