So, what is krieken?
Krieken are a type of sour cherry with a bright red color and a tangy, acidic taste. These cherries are commonly found in Belgium and the Netherlands, where they are often used to make a traditional sweet and sour sauce for meat dishes. Krieken are typically smaller and tarter than regular sweet cherries, and are often canned or preserved in syrup for use in recipes throughout the year. Their tart flavor makes them a popular ingredient in desserts, particularly in pies and tarts, where they can be used to balance out sweeter flavors.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
