So, what is butylrolactone?

Butyrolactone, also known as gamma-butyrolactone or GBL, is a colorless, oily liquid with a slightly bitter taste. It is a versatile chemical compound that is commonly used as a solvent in various industrial and commercial applications. Butyrolactone is also a precursor to the production of numerous chemicals, such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and plastics. It can also be converted into gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a central nervous system depressant that has been abused recreationally. Due to its multiple uses, butyrolactone is a widely available chemical that requires careful handling to avoid misuse and accidents.
