So, what is carob seed?
Carob seeds are the fruit of the carob tree, a Mediterranean evergreen plant. These seeds are rich in vitamins A and B, as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium. They have a sweet and nutty flavor that is often used as a substitute for chocolate due to their natural sweetness and lower fat content. Additionally, carob seeds are gluten-free, caffeine-free, and low in calories, making them a popular ingredient in many health-focused recipes. They can be ground into flour, used in baking, or added to smoothies and other drinks.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
