So, what is carthame?
Carthame, also known as safflower, is a plant species native to the Middle East and Central Asia. The plant produces small, thistle-like flowers that are harvested for their seeds, which can be used to extract a versatile oil with a mild flavor and high smoke point. Carthame oil is commonly used in cooking, as well as in cosmetics and skincare products due to its hydrating and moisturizing properties. Additionally, the flowers of the carthame plant have been traditionally used to make natural dyes for textiles and fabrics. With its wide range of uses, carthame is a valuable and versatile ingredient.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
