So, what is cera carnauba?
Cera carnauba, also known as carnauba wax, is a natural wax obtained from the leaves of the carnauba palm, native to Brazil. This wax is widely used in the food industry as a coating or glazing agent for confectionery, baked goods, and fruits. It has a high melting point, making it suitable for use in hot climates, and is also a vegan alternative to beeswax. In addition to its culinary applications, cera carnauba is used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and even car wax, due to its water-resistant and protective properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
