So, what is chlorine dioxide?

Chlorine dioxide is a powerful oxidizing agent that has become increasingly popular as a food disinfectant due to its ability to eliminate bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms. It is commonly used in the processing of meats, fruits, vegetables, and grains to prevent spoilage and improve shelf life. Unlike traditional disinfectants such as chlorine, chlorine dioxide does not leave behind harmful residues or alter the taste, color or texture of the treated food. However, it should be handled with care as it can cause eye and skin irritation if not properly diluted.
