So, what is cisteina?
Cysteine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in many high-protein foods such as poultry, eggs, and dairy products. It is also commonly used as a food ingredient in the form of L-cysteine, which is derived from human hair, duck feathers, or pig bristles. L-cysteine is used as a dough conditioner in breadmaking, to improve texture and extend shelf life. It is also added to some processed foods as a flavor enhancer and as a source of sulfur, which is necessary for many biological functions in the body. In addition, cysteine has been studied for its potential health benefits, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
