So, what is clou de giròfle?
Clou de giròfle, also known as clove, is a fragrant spice derived from the dried flower buds of the evergreen clove tree. With its warm, sweet, and slightly bitter taste, this popular ingredient is used in a variety of cuisines around the world, particularly in sweet and savory dishes, as well as in hot drinks like mulled wine or chai tea. Besides adding a distinct flavor to dishes, clove is also known for its medicinal properties, including its ability to aid digestion, alleviate pain, and fight off infections. Its essential oil is also used in aromatherapy and in some dental procedures.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
