So, what is culture?
Culture, in the world of food, refers to a live mixture of microorganisms that are added to foods to aid in fermentation, ripening, or preservation. These microorganisms, including bacteria and yeasts, transform the texture, flavor, and aroma of the food over time. Common examples of cultured foods include yogurt, cheese, kimchi, sauerkraut, and sourdough bread. Culturing is a natural and traditional process that has been used for centuries to enhance the nutritional value and shelf life of food. Cultured foods are not only delicious, but they also provide a host of health benefits, such as improving digestion and boosting the immune system.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
