So, what is de safran?
Saffron, or "de safran" in French, is a highly prized and expensive spice derived from the dried stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower. It has a distinct flavor and aroma that is often described as floral, honey-like, and slightly bitter. Saffron is commonly used in Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Indian cuisines to add color and flavor to dishes such as paella, risotto, and biryani. Due to its high cost, saffron is often used sparingly and is considered a luxury ingredient. In addition to its culinary uses, saffron is also used in traditional medicine for its purported health benefits.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
