So, what is dekstryny?
Dextrins are a group of complex carbohydrates derived from starch, commonly used in the food industry as a thickener, binder, or bulking agent. Dextrins are produced by heating starch with dry heat or acid, which breaks down the starch molecules into smaller, more soluble fragments. Depending on the degree of hydrolysis, dextrins can have a range of properties, such as viscosity, solubility, and color. They are often added to baked goods, confectionery, beverages, and processed meats to improve texture, mouthfeel, and shelf-life. Dextrins are also used in pharmaceuticals, paper manufacturing, and adhesive production.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
