So, what is e1111?
E1111 is a food ingredient known as octenyl succinic anhydride modified starch (OSA starch). It is derived from starch and chemically modified to enhance its functional properties in food products. OSA starch is often used as a thickening agent, stabilizer, and emulsifier in a wide range of processed foods such as soups, sauces, dressings, and bakery products. It is also employed to improve the texture, shelf life, and overall quality of food products. E1111 has been approved by regulatory bodies for use in food and is considered safe for consumption in moderate amounts.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
